A breeze ruffled Amelia's blonde locks as she stepped out onto the deck, letting the door to her room slam softly behind her. Jogging up the stairs to the wheel, she cast an eye about the crew, before giving a shout of "Hoist the sails! Weigh anchor!". The organized chaos that ensued made the woman smile as she watched her beloved crew begin to rush about, like workers in a hive. The entire ship held an excited air; everyone had had enough of shore leave and was ready to get back out onto the oceans.

She took hold of the wheel, and for a long moment she closed her eyes, savouring the feel of the smooth wood underneath her hands, of the smell of the salt spray, of the wind in her hair. She didn't understand why her mother would put up with being stuck running an inn after so many years of sailing. How could one be content with being stuck on land, day in, day out? The Alcyone crew had only been in port for two weeks, and already after the sixth day Amelia was going stir-crazy. She would never understand how her mother did it.

She opened her eyes, listening to the satisfying sound of the anchor being pulled in, and watching the snowy sails begin to billow. She would forever be in debt to Stephanie for managing to get a letter of marque for her. She wasn't sure what she would have done to remedy her wanderlust had the girl failed; she'd been against piracy ever since she was a child, especially because of the shame it would bring upon the family, but if the navy wouldn't accept her, she might not have had a choice. She loved her family, but she loved the freedom the sea bought her even more. "Come on, mates, hurry! I want to catch this upcoming wind out of here, to give us a head start!"
